Fluoride is a natural component of ground water. As a preventative measure against tooth decay, it is also a common additive to city water. But too high concentrations may be harmful. Thus the need to accurately measure its presence in all water for consumption. HI 96729C is an auto-diagnostic portable photometer for accurately measuring fluoride from 0.00 to 2.00 mg/L. The advanced optical system employs a specialized tungsten lamp and a narrow band interference filter, assuring accurate readings. This instrument is equipped with Cal Check® validation function and standards to validate good performance at any time. Taking just a few short steps, the validation procedure is user-friendly and ensures that the meter is properly calibrated wherever you go. Hanna photometers use the exclusive ready-made, NiST traceable standards to verify the performance of the instrument and recalibrate if necessary. Cuvets are constructed from specialized optical glass to ensure the best and most consistent results. The positive locking system ensures that the cuvet is in the same position every time it is placed into the measuring cell. Our sample cell is designed to fit a cuvet with a wide neck, thus making it easier to add both sample and reagents. All instruments are factory calibrated and the electronic and optical design minimizes the need for frequent calibration. Ideal for field applications, these meters are splash proof and the lamp and filter units are protected from dust or dirt by a transparent barrier. Display messages aid the user during routine operation. The auto-off feature will disengage the meter after 10 minutes of non-use in measuring mode or 1 hour while in calibration mode. Note: Chlorine will interfere with fluoride analysis and taint results. To remedy this, HANNA® suggests the HI 93703-53 liquid reagent with dropper to remove chlorine interference. This reagent is very quick and practical to use. Just add a drop for every 2 mg/L of chlorine present in the sample to eliminate its interference. HI 96729C utilizes an adaptation of EPA Method 340.1 and SPADNS Method. Hanna #: HI 96729C. Range: 0.00 to 2.00 mg/L Resolution: 0.01 mg/L Accuracy: ±0.03 mg/L to 1.00 mg/L.Light Source: Tungsten lamp with narrow band interface filter 575 nm.Light Life: Life of the instrument Light Detection: Silicon Photocell Battery Type / Life: 1 x 9V / approx. 40 hours of continuous use; auto-off after 10 minutes of non use Environment: 0 to 50°C (32 to 122°F); RH max 95% non-condensing Dimensions: 180 x 83 x 46 mm (7.1 x 3.3 x 1.8") Weight: 290 g (10 oz.) Method: Adaptation of EPA 340.1 Method and Standard Methods, SPADNS Method. HI 96729C is supplied with CAL CHECK™ standard cuvets, (2) sample cuvets with caps, (1) 2000 µL automatic pipette with cap, (1) pipette tip, 9V battery, tissue for wiping cuvets and instruction manual in a hard carrying case.
