Millipore Fluoropore™ PTFE membrane filters for airborne radioactive particle monitoring provide high collection efficiency, extremely low pressure drop and higher throughput capacity for improved data collection. Unlike fibrous filter media that trap particles in their matrix, Fluoropore™ hydrophobic PTFE membrane filters collect particles on their surface. This surface collection provides better detection efficiencies and lower FWHM measurements*. The smaller 3µm pore size provides low FWHM. The larger 5µm pore size has very low pressure drop and greater throughput capacity, which minimizes the number of filter changeouts. Each filter features a contrasting, black backing material which provides the needed contrast between the top (white side) and bottom (black side) of the filter. This prevents incorrect installation of the membrane filter in sampling devices. (*FWHM is defined as the full width at half of the maximum height of the P0-218 peak obtained during sampling of room air.)
