Whatman™ Grade ME24 mixed cellulose ester membranes are composed of cellulose acetate and cellulose nitrate. These membrane filters are characterized by a smoother and more uniform surface than pure nitrocellulose filters. Also, the color contrast provided by the filter surface facilitates particle detection and minimizes eye fatigue. In microbiological colony counting procedures, the color contrast between the surface and the colonies facilitates the counting process. These membrane filters offer a high degree of internal surface area for greater adsorption of product. Mixed cellulose ester membrane filters are particularly effective in applications requiring higher flow rates and larger volume filtration including clarification or sterilization of aqueous solutions, particulate analysis and removal, air monitoring and microbial analysis. Other applications include: Cytology, Air monitoring, Aqueous HPLC samples, Virus concentration, Particulate analysis, Biological assays, Food microbiology, Bacteriology, Particle counting and Yeasts and molds.
