The Wheaton® mini pilot plant spinner flask system is a large volume cell culture bioreactor designed to scale cultures up to production volumes of cells or products. The bioreactor controls temperature, agitation, pH and dissolved oxygen. Automatic control of pH is maintained via base addition and (CO₂) carbon dioxide gas. Automatic control of dissolved oxygen is performed utilizing air, O₂ and N₂ gases. Temperature is maintained by use of a heating blanket. Stirring speed achieved through manual setting of the Overdrive™ overhead stirrer with variable speed control ranging from 20 to 150rpm. The complete cell culture bioreactor system includes control tower, control tower support unit, Overdrive™ overhead stirrer, glass spinner flask with six sidearms, sparger, heating blanket and a 1-Liter reservoir bottle for buffer solutions. Systems are pre-configured for temperature, pH and dissolved oxygen. Applications scale cultures up to production volumes. Wheaton® Overdrive™ cell culture system with display is furnished complete with the vessel, impeller assembly and top drive motor. The large, adjustable height Polytetrafluoroethylene paddle (part of the impeller assembly) works together with the dimple in the bottom of the flask to provide gentle, even distribution and reduce dead areas. Designed for suspension or microcarrier cell culture. Vessels are equipped with 45mm sidearms to accommodate probes for monitoring and control and tubing for sparging or media addition. The 19L vessel has six sidearms. The vessel and impeller are autoclavable. Working/nominal volumes of 8.5/10, 16/19 and 36/45L. UL listed. CSA certified. CE marked.
This optimally sized container for plant culture features a side-mounted access tube with membrane screw top that permits replenishment of or addition to growth medium without causing aggravation to the tissue inside. The risk of pollution and potential root and tissue injury is greatly mitigated as a wide range of plant tissue cultures can therefore be accomplished in a single container without having to relocate tissue from one container to another. Nutrient and oxygen absorption is enhanced since tissue rests on a floating explant support that holds the tissue in continuous contact with the medium.
