Details

This agar medium is used for the isolation and differentiation of the Enterobacteriaceae based upon the fermentation of lactose, and other Gram negative bacteria in water, dairy products, other sanitary materials and clinical specimens. Inhibition of Gram positive bacteria is obtained by the bile salts mixture and crystal violet. Lactose fermenting bacteria appear as reddish-pink colonies and non-lactose fermenting bacteria appear as colorless or transparent colonies. Store the sealed bottle containing the dehydrated medium at 2 to 30.0°C. Once opened and recapped, place the container in a low humidity environment at the same storage temperature. Protect it from moisture and light. The dehydrated medium should be discarded if it is not free flowing or if the color has changed from the original light pinkish-beige color. Alpha Biosciences #: M13-106-500G.
