With its high measurement range (Brix 45.0 to 93.0%) the PAL-2 works perfectly in measuring high concentration samples such as jam - marmalade - jelly - honey - concentrated juice - etc. The PAL-2 is water resistant (rated at IP65) - so clean up of viscous samples can be done easily by placing the instrument under running water. High temperature boiled samples such as jam - marmalade or maple syrup can also be measured. For these samples - the PAL-2 will give steady readings once measurement is repeated a few times (and the temperature of the sample and prism surface conforms to the ambient temperature). This refractometer is light & compact - only 100g. It is ergonomically designed for one-handed operation. The speedy performance of the PAL-2 is amazing. Simply put 2 to 3 drops of a sample on the prism surface and press the START key. The Brix value (sugar content / concentration) will be displayed in just 3 seconds. High temperature samples can be measured and the sample stage is designed to keep sample solutions from spilling out. The Automatic Temperature Compensation function enables you to take measurement readings regardless of the ambient temperature.
