The Wheaton Potter-Elvehjem Safe-Grind® plasticcoated tissue grinder affords an added measure of safety over uncoated glass tissue grinders. Ideal for tissue homogenates. The PTFE pestle with the stainless steel shaft can be used with motor driven homogenization. The heavy Plastisol coating protects the mortar from becoming scratched or checked and assures you of a sure grip. More importantly, the plasticcoating creates a greater safety factor in case the mortar cracks or breaks during power homogenization. The transparent coating allows an unobstructed view of the homogenate during grinding. The stainless steel shaft has a diameter of 0.25-inch (6.3 mm). Grinding chamber clearance is .004 to .006-inches (0.1 - 0.15 mm).Wheaton Safe-Grind® tissue grinders are fully autoclavable. The mortar is made from Wheaton-33® low extractable borosilicate glass.
