Cytiva's Whatman™ WPP polypropylene membrane filters are flexible durable and virtually indestructible. The exceptionally uniform strength of the device means that the membrane will not crack tear break or distort when picked up by hand or forceps. These devices are temperature tolerant which means they are not affected by autoclaving. This temperature resistance gives users autoclaved membranes with flow rates and throughput at least 80% higher than those of autoclaved cellulose membrane filters. There is no need for pre-wetting or wetting with cytotoxic wetting agents that could be extracted. This makes the membrane filters ideal as a support for cell growth filtration of media and sterilization of tissue culture media pharmaceuticals and other solutions used for biological work. The membranes are also compatible with organic solvents making them highly suitable for HPLC mobile phase filtering and degassing especially with acetonitrile solvent.
