PYREX® glass animal jars are ideal for the research lab or for other purposes where resistance to hot air and steam sterilization is of importance. PYREX® glass animal jars are blown with walls approximately 4.5mm (3/16 inch) thick. The open ends are finished with a fire-polished bead to increase mechanical strength. Do not use glass animal jars with heat, pressure, or vacuum applications.
PYREX® glass cylindrical jars are mold-blown with substantial walls for mechanical strength. The open end of these jars is ground flat. These jars can also be used as animal jars. Do not use PYREX® glass cylindrical with heat, pressure, or vacuum applications.
PYREX® round glass vacuum bell jars are manufactured from a specially blown, sturdy glass material and features a fine ground finish at the open end. Pyrex glass bell jars are available both with and without a bottom rim flange. The flat ground bearing surface has a contact area equal to the wall thickness at the open end of the jar. Warning: Do not use flangeless style bell jars with vacuum applications. Do not use any style PYREX bell jars with heat or pressure. Reusable. Material: Corning Borosilicate Glass Code 7740.
Cloud and pour point jars are graduated, are used to measure the cloud point temperature in petroleum oils. A single line encircles the glass jar at a point approximately 51mm above the bottom to assist in measuring the sample. Not intended for vacuum use. Conforms to ASTM test methods: D-97, D-1500, D-2500. Both Kimble KIMAX® and Corning PYREX® brands are available.
