Texwipe’s Sterile Dry Specimen Collection and Transport System consists of sterile ready-to-use units for the collection and transport of bacteriological specimens. The system is designed to maintain integrity of both sample collection and sample transport to the lab. Swabs are constructed from 100% USP-grade spun cotton (or polyester) which are then are bonded securely to a flexible polystyrene shaft by an aqueous-based adhesive. 6.1-inch (155 mm) long swabs enable access to hard-to-reach sampling sites. The swabs are made to exacting and consistent tolerances using high-precision automated processes. Features & Benefits:
Medical-grade LDPE plastic molded cap securely holds swab shaft for safety and sterility while sampling.
Tamper-evident seal ensures sterility as point-of-use.
1mm thick medical-grade polypropylene tube with seamless, molded, round-bottom design.
Cap rings ensure tight seal and progect against contamination during transport of the sample.
Gamma irradiated to a Sterility Assurance Level of 10(-6) in accordance with ANSI/AAMI/ISO 11137 Standards
Lot code and expiration date clearly marked on each package and included in the bar code for inventory control.
Certificate of Irradiation and Compliance is attached to each case confirming that the irradiation dosage met Standards Specifications.
Puritan® PurSwab Specimen Collection Swabs & Transport Systems are available in a variety of formats - most commonly in a sealed dry transport tube. Foam tipped swabs have a high particle collection capacity and provide excellent collection and application of cells for clinical diagnostics. Device can be used for cell collection and transport to the lab. Applicator swabs can also be used for forensic evidence collection and general medical needs. Sterile foam swabs are ideal for use as Buccal swabs, general specimen collection for testing and screening. They are also commonly used in pediatrics, ophthalmology, veterinary care, Oropharyngeal applications as well as field and lab DNA sampling and testing.
The Swabchek™ Principle:The surface is wiped with a cellulose swab and any bacteria collected are transferred via the swab into a tube containing a special medium with an indicator dye, which is then incubated. A single bacterium is sufficient to cause a color change. This means that Swabchek™ is about 1000 times more sensitive than the conventional ATP method. This accuracy is particularly important in the food industry. With this simple method, it is possible to identify microorganisms such as Listeria monocytogenes, which must not be present in any concentration in food and beverages.
Swabchek™ Specimen Collection Swabs & Transport Tubes:These swabs are used as an indication of hygiene on contact surfaces. A Swabchek™ swab changes color from purple to yellow. The color change is based on acid reaction with the indicator. The more rapid the color change, the higher the level of bacteria in the sample. Swabchek™ specimen collection swabs are useful in determining the sanitation levels of preparation surfaces, filling ports, and processing areas in beverage and food processing plants, dairies, restaurants, and healthcare facilities.Swabs offer the right test for each type of contamination and are pre-sterilized and ready for immediate use.Ideal for qualitative and semi-qualitative hygiene control with rapid results and a long shelf life.
Swabchek™ Neutralizing Buffer Swabs:These buffer swabs are used in the monitoring of surfaces for total bacterial count. Neutralizing buffer inactivates the bactericidal and bacteriostatic effects of chlorine and quaternary ammonium detergents. However, neutralizing buffer exhibits no toxic effects on microorganisms. This permits the transfer of swabbed organisms to the laboratory without loss in viability. Neutralizing buffer is not designed to culture and enumerate microorganisms.
Swabchek™ Buffer Swabs:These swabs are used for the collection of surface contamination from flat or convoluted surfaces prior to transport to a laboratory for culture and enumeration. Swabchek™ Buffer Swabs contain no bacteriostatic or bactericidal compounds and cannot suppress the action of detergents.
Swabchek™ Polywipe Sponge:Sponges are used for the recovery of microorganisms from a surface. Swabchek™ Polywipe is a blue sponge that is pre-moistened with neutralizing buffer to neutralize the effects of surface disinfectants. The sponge material is selected to be free of the preservatives found in commercially available sponges, which can inhibit microorganism growth. Polywipe sponges are biocide free and tested for zero toxicity to microorganisms. Each sponge is individually wrapped in a peel pouch and gamma irradiated to ensure sterility.
