The Corning PC-400D hot plate has a 5 x 7 inch Pyroceram® top and digital temperature display. It is designed to operate on 120V/60Hz with a standard US three-prong plug for use with similar electrical requirements. It features a microprocessor that maintains consistent and repeatable temperature settings from 5°C (if ambient temperature is 0°C or lower) up to 550°C. The digital LED temperature display is adjustable in 5°C increments and blinks until set temperature is reached. The optional external temperature controller truly controls temperature inside the vessel and eliminates the need to closely monitor liquid temperature.
Safety features include a bright LED HOT TOP icon that lights up with the top plate is over 60°C (even when the heat control is turned off), a separate temperature sensor that provides power cutoff if the unit overheats, an optional temperature controller that will shut off the unit when the controller is not in liquid, and a two-piece casting design that deflects spills away from the electronics and includes a built-in mount for an optional 18 inch support rod.
