W.A. Hammond Drierite® gas drying units dry both air and gases saturated with moisture to very low dew point levels. These gas drying units are filled with approximately 567g of Drierite® 8-mesh indicating desiccant. Indicating desiccant can be easily regenerated by heating the desiccant on a tray at at 210 to 220°C for 1 hour in a single layer. Once exhausted, the same desiccant can easily be replaced with a fresh batch of indicating desiccant. Use in virtually any air or gas application which includes sample prep, blanketing, protection of lab instruments & equipment, gas purging, vacuum release, reaction mixtures or dry air venting.
Drierite® indicating desiccant provides visual proof by means of color change that the desiccant is absorbing moisture. The desiccant is a blue color when active and a pink color when exhausted. The zone between the two colors in the column may be a purple color and should be a sharp narrow band when the flow rate is at equilibrium. Regeneration by re-heating the desiccant will restore the drying capacity and the color back from pink to blue when fully dried.
