Application:  Cyclohexanol may be used in the preparation of ε-caprolactam and adipic acid, important precursors for the industrial synthesis of nylon-6 and nylon-6.6, respectively.

General Description:  Cyclohexanol is an alicyclic alcohol. It is industrially produced from phenol, via hydrogenation in the presence of Ni/Al2O3 catalyst. It is also produced from cyclohexane, via oxidation with molecular oxygen in the presence of Co3O4 nanocrystals (catalyst). A mixture of cyclohexanone (K) and cyclohexanol (A) is known as KA oil. KA oil can be generated from cyclohexane, via liquid-phase oxidation.
