This Owl® SGC-2 Stretch Otter™ Sequencing Gel Caster is designed for use with all Owl® Vertical Electrophoresis Systems. The SGC-2 uses a simple, innovative method for casting bubble-free sequencing gels in less than 3 minutes. Relying on a horizontal plate sliding procedure, capillary action draws the gel between plates. Surface tension, not tape, keeps the gel from leaking. No taping or special assembly is required. The sliding casting method has been shown to require significantly less time to cast and the clean process decreases exposure to acrylamide and reduces clean up time. The system is fully adjustable to accommodate glass plates from 20cm to 42cm wide and 65.5cm long.
