Whatman™ ME25/21 sterile gridded mixed cellulose ester membrane filters have clearly defined grid lines spaced at 3.1mm intervals for manual colony counting procedures. The special ink used is nontoxic and completely free from bacterial growth inhibitors. Whatman™ Grade ME25/21 sterile gridded mixed cellulose ester membranes are composed of cellulose acetate and cellulose nitrate. These membrane filters are characterized by a smoother and more uniform surface than pure nitrocellulose filters. Also, the color contrast provided by the filter surface facilitates particle detection and minimizes eye fatigue. In microbiological colony counting procedures, the color contrast between the surface and the colonies facilitates the counting process. These membrane filters offer a high degree of internal surface area for greater adsorption of product. Mixed cellulose ester membrane filters are particularly effective in applications requiring higher flow rates and larger volume filtration including clarification or sterilization of aqueous solutions, particulate analysis and removal, air monitoring and microbial analysis.
